Just got back from Hartford and I saw the best

basketball game I've ever seen involving SMU and I've been watching them play
since 1953. The Sunday night game
against UConn was so special because for us it was no big deal because we were
already in the "Big Dance." But for them
the past NCCA Champions, it was a major major game because unless they win,
they were out. They had just won their
last two games with last second shots by Boatwright and boy were their fans
(16,000 of them) excited at game time. I
had the feeling there was no way for us.
Here I was by myself in the middle of these wild fans with my SMU hat
on. From the opening tip though, I never
stopped yelling and I never heard hardly anything from them thereafter. When UConn would make a run, we would double
back on them. Their star Boatwright
acted like a baby beating up Nic Moore and boy was that fun when he fouled out.
In fact our Band & the few fans behind the bench were louder at the end
than all the 16,000 that were in AWE. It was so thrilling to see our team so
excited after the game cutting down the
nets and hugging each other. What a night for Mustangs/

But when it was announced after the game that we were a
#6 seed, I almost fainted. How can we
enter the tournament at a #6 seed and end up winning the tournament and still
be a #6 seed? How can you beat the past
NCAA Champions on their own court in front of 16,000 fans and still be a #6
seed? How can you win your conference AND win your tournament and still be a #6
seed? We'll go to Louisville all pissed
off like we did in Hartford having to play UConn on their home court and the
results will be the same. I'll be there
with my 80 year old body screaming like hell.
I'm sure none of you will be there but home writing ugly things to me again.
