Zach Wood talked about what senior night will mean to him (I'll have a full story on that tomorrow) but here are some other highlights from this week's availability:
- Morris seemed about as discouraged as he has all season. He and Craddock both praised how well Navy executed on both sides of the ball. Morris said it was tough that after the offense had run nine plays and punted three times Navy already had 21 points on the board.
- Morris said he felt something deflate in the team after the James Madison game and many of the seniors have expressed the same thing.
- Craddock isn't sure that the team has a clear second receiver just yet but Courtland Sutton needs to be effective even when the defense throws the house at him.
- Craddock said that Matt Davis is doing a good job of calling out protection schemes for the offensive line before plays. Craddock said part of this was due to Davis getting more reps and working with Dustin Fry to understand coverages and part was all the time that Davis spends in the film room with the coaches.
- Morris wants to send the seniors out the right way, a sentiment emphasized by Malone, who said he wished their weren't cameras in the room because he though he was going to get too emotional.
- Malone said that Tulane's strength on offense is its running backs core. He said Tulane lost one of its top receivers to injury but has another WR that can cause issues for the team. He also said that Tulane uses its tight ends differently than most teams in that its TEs line up with the OL and can block and receive well, which might cause some changes to SMU's scheme. He said that Tulane uses two QBs, the key difference being that one runs a little better than the other.
- As for the Tulane defense, Craddock says they are very athletic and he expects to see a lot of man coverage in the pass game.
