I was at practice, the full report is here and I've got a few notes below from the practice:
- The football teams from Covenant and Prime Prep/Triple A Academy were at practice today and spoke with Chad Morris and recruiting coordinator Mark Smith beforehand. Deion Sanders was with Prime Prep as well.
- After working on special teams and a fake field goal in which none of the receiving options managed to get open, the team went into the Mustang drill, with three offensive linemen facing three defensive players and trying to make a hole for the running back.
- Despite the coaches singing his praise, Kris Weeks struggled to get any sort of push during this drill and often times stood straight up instead of keeping a low pad level.
- Some offensive linemen who did impress were Taylor Reich, Bozidar Antunovic and Jerry Saena, all of whom looked strong and created holes for the running back.
- Claude Mathis was beyond-hyped at practice and went crazy every time one of his running backs found their way into the end zone during the drill.
- SMU was working out a couple of new players at running back but they were wearing numbers not on the official roster so hard to tell who they were.
