You can get the interviews with Chad Morris and Shak Randolph right here, premium notes on the scrimmage are below:

  • No Matt Davis today as he took a backseat (no injury concerns) to let the backups show what they've got. Darrel Colbert did a good job of getting out of the pocket when it collapsed and making plays with his feet. Ben Hicks showed good arm strength on short passing plays but when he needed to air it out the results were a little more mixed. When Hicks was under pressure he used good footwork to get free.
  • Braeden West had a good day at running back, bursting through holes and making plays in the passing game as well.
  • Another RB that saw some time was walk-on Joseph Paden, who has good size but needs to show more patience waiting for his line to create holes for him before trying to get out of the backfield.
  • James Proche, Xavier Castille, West, Deion Sanders Jr and Ryheem Malone split time returning kicks. Sanders took one all the way back across the 50 and West took one out to the 35.
  • Kevin Thomas started out slow but eventually found a groove, making nice plays and requiring two or three defenders to take him down in the open field.
  • Arrius Holman created good separation on one play to make a deep catch.
  • Mitchell Kaufman played tight end today and made a couple of nice catches, including one he took 40 yards down the sideline for a touchdown. He was used as a semi-fullback on a couple plays, acting as lead blocker for the RB.
  • Taylor Lasecki was his usual dependable self, protecting his quarterback and using a cut block to spring a screen early in the scrimmage.
  • Deon Green showed no problem bursting through the line and putting pressure on the QB.
  • Ajee Montes and Williams Jeanlys both had interceptions on the day.
