There was no media availability today but I was at practice and took some notes!
Ryan Manuel was impressive from the midrange today; he even hit more jumpers than Keith in a drill when they switched off between shooting from both elbows. Ryan also had a nice steal that he took back for a dunk, though Ben Moore was racing down the court to try to block the fast break shot.I saw Yanick block a couple of shots, one from Cannen (which LB told Cunningham he had to dunk) and another from Markus. Yanick was also the recipient of two nice lobs from Nic Moore, one of which Yanick dunked. Yanick also had some lowlights: The Mustangs ran a play that set Yanick up with an easy reverse layup that he botched. Later, he blocked an Emelogu layup after it hit the backboard, causing the whole team to yell out goaltend.Markus Kennedy looked like his legs were dead on Monday. He had the one shot blocked by Moreira and many of his shots fell short off the iron. Cannen threw a lob Markus' way and he could only finish with a layup, not getting too high of the ground.Ben Emelogu was tough driving to the bucket on Monday, getting whacked a couple times on one drive but still finishing the floater. He drove past one man on the perimeter and was held back to prevent an easy layup attempt. Emelogu had a couple of passes stolen by Sterling Brown, one an entry pass and another an outlet pass in transition. The team did some basic shooting drills on Monday that they did regularly in the beginning of the season.During one water break, Nic Moore hit 14 straight shots from deep, moving slightly around the arch with each shot attempt. He only missed the 15th attempt after it clanged out of the cylinder. After practice ended, everyone stayed late to work on free throws. Ryan, Ben Moore, Markus and Yanick all were hitting the majority of their free throws, an encouraging sign for SMU.K.T. Turner and Tim Jankovich were not at practice on Monday but Rick Hart stopped by to watch for a little less than half an hour.
