SMUguru: Your best guess, who will be the new comers on SMU roster next year? McDowell, Wilson, Froling, Whitt (AR) and ???
A late graduate transfer big, someone who has not decided to transfer from his school yet and will be an addition over the summer. Doubt Kapita ends up qualifying at this point or he would have signed by now.
CTMustang: Can you provide a list of the BB and/or FB players graduating this semester?
Nic Moore and Jordan Tolbert graduated but no sign of Markus Kennedy at graduation ceremonies. Football graduates are: Elie Nabushosi, Ajee Montes, Prescott Line, Colin LaGasse, Dylan Dickman, Chauncey Briggs, Keenan Holman, Ja'gared Davis, Neal Burcham, AJ Justice, Will Barnes, AJ Buffini.
Inapper: When Big 12 expansion is discussed, Central Florida and South Florida are in the discussion because of the recruiting in Florida and good markets. Why then do SMU and Houston not come up as options for the ACC or PAC 12 in a similar fashion using recruiting in Texas (instead of Florida) and good markets (Dallas and Houston)? Dallas (5th ranked tv market) and Houston (10th ranked tv market) are better markets than Tampa (13th ranked tv market) and Orlando (19th ranked tv market). SMU and Houston would bring a ranked team in men's basketball and football.
Because only the Big 12 wants to expand right now because it needs 12 teams to catch up to the other conferences and to have a deep enough rotation to have its own network. The other conferences right now are looking at schools like SMU and Houston for long-term expansion but all of those conferences have TV deals that run until 2023 at least and they don't want to have more mouths to feed until those deals expire. Only way that would accelerate would be if the Big 12 poached from another P5 conference. For instance, if the Big 12 were to poach Arizona and Arizona State (hypothetically), then the Pac 12 would need to react and add schools. But the Big 12 does not seem to be in a particularly strong position to lure away other P5 schools until/unless the Longhorn Network is dismantled.
SMUguru: With Romello White released from his LOI to Georgia Tech, does SMU still have interest with the doubt in Kapita and Bruno?
White is on a visit to Arizona State and already visited Iowa State. Those are the only two schools known to be involved in his recruitment up until this point. There is no word about SMU looking at JuCo prospects right now either.
