SMUguru: What would it take to get baseball/softball at SMU?
From what I've heard there is no immediate plan to add either sport but SMU understands that if it wants to move up from the American Conference then adding baseball and softball is absolutely necessary. With the Natatorium, the indoor practice field for football and then a new soccer stadium all on the upcoming construction schedule, a baseball stadium is not in the immediate plans but the school knows to move up it will need to add the sports back into the mix.
CTMustang: Any news on the IPF and/or the Natatorium?
Nothing on the Natatorium right now. The coaching staff has yet to make an announcement about the IPF but it continues to promise recruits that it will be open by the time the 2017 recruiting class arrives on campus. If I had to guess, the design process is taking a little longer than expected as Morris works with alumni on the specifics of the IPF.
stl.pony: What's Jarrey Foster's status?
I talked a little with a basketball coach about Jarrey this week, he is cleared by his doctor to do full basketball drills now and he is practicing with the team. The coach said that Foster is working hard but there are still moments where you can tell he is easing up to give his knee a rest. Sounds like a couple more months of practice and he should be at 100%.
ft5: Did Shawn Williams leave the hoops team? If so why and where did he go?
Shawn told me he was interested in rejoining the staff as a full assistant but not sure how he came to his decision to take a different job. He will be teaching and coaching in the Duncanville ISD this upcoming school year. I believe that he is starting at the middle school level but have not confirmed that.
Huiek: Any update on the defensive lineman from South Carolina?
Still no announcement on Deon Green but I'm hearing it is only a matter of timing before he announces he's going to SMU. Not sure when the announcement will be exactly though.
mustangblueforce: Who's our best shot at the other WR spot for the 2016 class?
SMU is doing a great job in its recruitment of Adewale Omotosho, the three-star Plano East WR, but his top-ten list is absolutely loaded so SMU will have its work cut out for it. Luckily he will be at SMU's cookout on July 24 with the entire 2016 class so you can bet that David Moore will be in his ear all night. Brandon Benson is another big-time target who is visiting campus this weekend. At this moment those are the two WRs SMU is putting the most work into.
Stangster: Is Blake Carlisle really being recruited for WR?
Nope, Carlisle is going to play star linebacker. He prefers playing defense and is a perfect fit for that position in SMU's defense.
