First things first, SMU filled two big areas of need with the additions of Jacob Todora and Patrick Jones. Offensive tackle Todora packs a punch in the run game, where he clearly relishes driving his man to the ground. Once he develops more as a pass blocker he will be a complete package but his toughness will be a great addition to SMU's run blocking.
Jones has a frighteningly fast first step for a defensive lineman, exploding into the backfield to blow plays up before they get to the line of scrimmage. Sometimes this results in the opposing quarterback clearing out of the pocket the instant he receives the snap. Though he plays end in high school Jones looks like a player that could slide into a DT role with ease if the coaches decide to make the switch. As a bonus, Jones says he will be busy recruiting Fort Worth All Saints three-star DT Michael Williams to SMU.
Both Todora and Jones are good students so there should be no concerns with them on the academic front.

The Mustangs are nowhere near done with either line, welcome news to the SMU faithful. The next commitment could come as soon as Saturday, when Kimball DE Demerick Gary is expected to announce his commitment. Though schools like Arkansas State are still in contention, all signs point to Gary committing to SMU. He is in regular contact with a number of commits, players and coaches at SMU and doing a lot of research into the program.
If I were to predict the next offensive lineman to commit I'd go with Houston Christian OL Harrison Barton. He's been picking up some new offers recently but he tells me that SMU is still his favorite school at this point. There is no time table on his commitment date as of yet.
Another commit from outside of the trenches might be coming soon as well. I spoke with Liberty-Eylau athlete Ke'mon Freeman Sunday night and he told me he might commit to SMU soon (full profile on Freeman coming Tuesday morning). The staff is looking at Freeman as a utility man who could see time at QB, WR, RB and S. He says he'd prefer to play safety, however, because he likes getting to hit guys.
So that's what to expect going forward after the Todora/Jones additions. Have questions? Let me know and I'll do my best to answer.
