Not a comment on SMU. But here is a situation that is dispositive of some of the lower-life's in college football. The starting quarterback for Tyler John Tyler had received an offer from Central Arkansas and dutifully verbally committed. Having done so, he declined contact with other schools and concentrated on taking his team to the state semi finals. Two days ago, Central Arkansas withdrew its offer. No reason given, and the kid had made grades and presented no off-field or in-school problems. With national signing day only a couple of weeks away, the kid is high and dry. And. It coming from a family with very little means, he can't walk on anywhere because he can't afford tuition. At last report, his plan is to borrow enough money to go to HVAC trade school.
The kid has little recourse, unless Shore can come up with some actionable legal construct, and even if they were a construct, he can't afford a lawyer. The High School coach is furious and has banned Central Arkansas and its current coaching staff, no matter where they are or go, from the school. Coach is also working hard to find the kid another school, but QBS slots fill pretty quickly.
Sad situation, in my opinion. Guess one could say Central Arkansas did nothing wrong, and that the kid should have kept his options open. Hope the Central Arkansas staff sleeps well at night.......
