I heard that Xavier Castille was leaving the SMU football program from a coach at another school in early May but i couldn't get confirmation. It's now been confirmed that he is no longer with the program. I reached out to coach Morris for word on why that is but nothing so far. He's officially off the current roster on SMU's page as well.
Castille was SMU's 3rd receiver with 423 yards on 40 receptions. Despite only making three starts last season he was a productive receiver. His hands were inconsistent but SMU often attempted passes in his direction on big third down opportunities.
SMU has no shortage of talented receivers heading into the 2017 campaign. In fact, the receiving corp is perhaps the most complete it's been in years with Courtland Sutton, Trey Quinn, Shelby Walker, Brandon Benson coming off his RS FR year, Kevin Thomas still in the mix and of course, James Proche. Alex Honey is still waiting in the wings to fill in Sutton's role once he inevitably declares for the draft next season.
