American Athletic Conference Announces 2015-16 Men's Basketball Pairings
Mustangs To Play Eight Opponents Twice; UCF At Home, Temple On Road

PROVIDENCE, R.I.(American/SMU)-- The American Athletic Conference announced its schedule format for the 2015-16 men's basketball season today. SMU, the defending AAC champions, will play eight conference opponents twice; Cincinnati, Connecticut, East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, USF, Tulane and Tulsa. The Mustangs have only one matchup with UCF (home) and Temple (away).
The American men's basketball championship will be played March 10-13 (Thursday-Sunday) at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Mustangs claimed the 2014-15 AAC regular season and tournament titles en route to reaching the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 22 seasons. SMU finished the season 27-7 overall, winning 27 games for the second straight year. The Mustangs went 15-3 in league play to claim the conference title (first since 1993). SMU had a 16-2 mark at Moody Coliseum while setting home attendance records for a season (124,986) and average (6,944).
The Mustangs spent nine weeks in the AP and USA Today Top 25, finishing the season No. 18 in the AP and receiving votes in the USA Today Coaches Poll. SMU also ranked No. 18 in the final NCAA RPI.
