CTMustang: With our BB commit list, how is Harvard ranked ahead of us? How are we not in the Top 25 with 2 4-stars, a 3-star and a foreign guy?
Understand that the basketball rankings are not done by a computer formula but by Eric Bossi's evaluation of the talent in each class, so it does not automatically update each time someone gets a commit. The latest rankings are early January before Froling or Kapita committed. Also, don't know why you chose Harvard as your example here because the Crimson's class has legit talent, guys who chose Harvard over other P5 options.
SFtoHilltop: Any insight on who our next football commit might be?
My money is on Kayce Medlock. The Arp WR told me he is going to commit the next time he visits SMU. He did not get to come out this past Saturday because he was preparing for his basketball playoff game but now that Arp was eliminated on Tuesday he should be visiting pretty soon.
SMUguru: Moving forward, do you see the SMU basketball staff changing?
If Jankovich were to leave for another head coaching job (not hearing much about it but think unlikely because his family doesn't want to move again yet) then Jay Duncan is likely to get promoted to assistant. Also would not be surprised to see strength and conditioning coach Carlos Daniel to move on to another NBA job if he is presented the opportunity this offseason.
PonyLawExpress: Now that we have 4 commits in the 2016 class, putting the ratings aside, how would you rank them 1-4 (1 highest)? Also, 1-4 in most ready to contribute from day one?
Both these rankings go in the same order: Kapita, Froling, McDowell, Wilson. Kapita is a fifth year player and is in terrific shape, ready to pound away in the paint and run up the court right away. Froling has semi-professional experience and is skilled enough to contribute right away on offense. McDowell brings a lot of versatility right away to the floor while Wilson needs to develop his all-around game before he can be a serious contributor outside of being a zone breaker.
