When speaking to recruits and other coaches, the one thing that keeps coming up about Sonny Dykes and the SMU coaching staff is how much they care about people. Humanitarianism scores major points.

Ahmaud Arbery, a former high school football player living in Georgia, was murdered on Feb. 23 while taking a jog on a residential street in Brunswick, Georgia. Authorities arrested and charged Gregory McMichael and his son Travis McMichael with murder.

Friday would have been Arbery's 26th birthday, and a national social media movement requested those who want justice for Arberty to run or walk 2.23 miles on his birthday -- the 2.23 representing Feb. 23, the date of his death. Among those who took part in the movement were members of the SMU coaching staff.

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere," Dykes tweeted, referring to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "Letter from the Birmingham Jail."
