SMU recruiting and the DMN all-area team

The Dallas Morning News announced its 2020-21 all-area teams this week, and the team say a lot in regards to SMU recruiting.

SIGNEES
*Parish Episcopal's Preston Stone was a first-team QB. Threw for 3,429 yards his senior year and a Dallas-area record 13,207 yards for his career. Won back-to-back state titles with Parish Episcopal.

*Duncanville's Roderick Daniels was a first-team WR. Caught 68 passes for 1,240 yards and 13 touchdowns. He ranked third among Dallas-area Class 6A players in receiving yards.

*Flower Mound Stone Eby was a second-team DE. He finished the 2020 season with triple-digit tackles -- 106 total and nine for loss -- and frustrated offensive linemen with 14 sacks.

KEEP AN EYE ON ...
*Duncanville 2022 Cameron Williams was a second-team OL. Had 45 pancakes and allowed only one sack in 2020. SMU was in his recently released top 11.
*Lewisville's 2022 Damien Martinez was a second-team RB. Rushed for 2,010 yards and 30 touchdowns.
*Arlington Bowie 2022 Devon Campbell was a second-team OL. Finished the 2020 season with 101 pancake blocks.
*Rockwall-Heath 2022 Jay Fair was a second-team WR. Caught 73 passes for 1,303 yards and 12 touchdowns. He recently added an SMU offer to his list.
*Duncanville 2022 Jordan Crook was a second-team LB. Finished with 93 tackles (seven for loss), six sacks and three interceptions. He also scored two defensive touchdowns.
*Lovejoy's Reid Westervelt was a first-team WR. Caught 86 passes for 1,809 yards and 31 (!) touchdowns this season. SMU has been in contact with him to become a PWO.

OTHERS WHO WERE ONCE TARGETS
*Duncanville's Savion Byrd was a first-team OL. Signed with Oklahoma.
*Euless Trinity's Ollie Gordon was a first team RB. Signed with Oklahoma State.
*Highland Park's Jack Leyrer was a first-team OL. Signed with Stanford.
*DeSoto's Shemar Turner and Byron Murphy II were first-team DTs. Turner signed with Texas A&M; Murphy signed with Texas.

Shout-out to Joe Hoyt and Greg Riddle of the DMN. This is never an easy task to compile a list with so many talented players throughout the area.
