Kendric Davis named to Lute Olson Award midseason watch list

Point guard Kendric Davis was one of the players listed on the 2020-21 Lute Olson Award midseason watch list, which was announced Monday.

The Lute Olson Award is awarded annually to the nation's top Division I basketball player. It's named in honor of the Hall of Fame coach who won 776 games in 34 seasons, 24 of which were with the Arizona Wildcats.

Davis leads the AAC in both scoring and assists, averaging 19.3 points and 7.8 assists per contest. Davis ranks second in the nation in assists per game, behind Oakland University's Jalen Moore, who is averaging 8.2 per game.

Ulysses Bentley IV named to FWAA Freshman All-America Team

Running back Ulysses Bentley IV was named to the 2020 Football Writers Association of Freshman All-America Team on Monday.

Bentley rushed for 913 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Mustangs in 2020. He led the AAC in rushing, and his 11 touchdowns set an SMU freshman record.

He was one of three AAC players to make the team, with the other two being Memphis wide receiver Tahj Washington and Tulsa offensive lineman Tyler Smith.
